Scope and Content

Although his papers, comprising eight linear feet, document both his civilian and military careers, his World War II military letters, numbering several hundred, are of the greatest interest. However, letters from his parents are also interesting in that they are a record of life back home during World War II. We learn, for example, that the Plaza Hotel in New York was "dreary and dark," a reference perhaps to blackouts during the war. The papers include photographs correspondence, scrapbooks, notebooks, audiotapes, 8mm film reels, and military badges.
