The George Mason Faculty Senate records include information on the revision of the faculty handbook during the 2008-2009 academic year. The Board of Visitors approved the revised Faculty Handbook on Dec. 3, 2008. The new provisions took effect on Jan. 1, 2009. Folders contain materials such as minutes, proposal letters, memoranda, and reports about changes needed to be made by the faculty from 1966 to the most recent record in 2011. Each folder contains materials about the Faculty Senate's records during said year. Folders also contain records such as minutes and reports from multiple commitees, such as the Committee on Academic Freedom and Tenure in accordance to its year. Significant findings are records on the founding of the Admissions Committee, a flyer inviting all faculty members to a Faculty Brown Bag Forum, a letter regarding the conviction of a faculty member due to a car theft, and letters about the founding of the Bachelor of Science in Education degree.
